ALASKALASKA

Artist

ALASKALASKA 1

Specialising in spirited, explorative indie rock that's anchored in grooves and pop melodies, ALASKALASKA began with a mandate to make music that was fun to write and perform. In the realm of similarly eclectic alternative acts such as Talking Heads and tUnE-yArDs, their off-kilter music incorporates vintage synths and whimsical effects.

Based in South London and originally comprising members of its flourishing jazz scene, ALASKALASKA was formed by songwriter Lucinda Duarte-Holman (vocals, guitar) along with producer Fraser Rieley (bass), Calum Duncan (guitar), Gethin Jones (drums), Fraser Smith (saxophone), and Joe Webb (synths, keys). They made their recording debut with the ALASKALASKA EP in 2017 before signing to US label Marathon Artists soon after. Their debut album - The Dots - followed in 2019 with Pitchfork calling it "...a high-wire act combining jazz fusion, disco rhythms, and high-gloss art rock" in a 7.7/10 review.
